The landscape of sound design is witnessing a significant shift as Minimal Audio introduces Poly Flanger, a “musically intelligent” plugin designed to overhaul traditional flanging effects. Unlike legacy tools that rely on generic sweeps operating independently of the audio source, Poly Flanger is engineered to respond dynamically to the input material. By analyzing key factors such as tonality and rhythm, the software ensures that its modulations remain harmonically and temporally aligned with the track.
At its core, Poly Flanger offers a multi-layered architecture capable of generating up to eight distinct voices. These voices can be synchronized to create complex arpeggiated movements, allowing producers to move beyond static textures. Each additional voice contributes to the overall depth and dimensionality of the sound, facilitating a seamless transition from a subtle sonic thickness to a dense, full-bodied harmonic presence.
To support immediate creative exploration, the plugin includes a diverse library of 80 presets, featuring the much-anticipated “Galactic Swirl” configuration. The software is built for broad compatibility, supporting all major DAWs on macOS 10.11 or higher and Windows 10 or higher. This launch coincides with a broader season of innovation in the industry, as Ableton Live co-creator Robert Henke recently debuted a free Max for Live device titled Filter Delays, and Arturia unveiled the comprehensive FX Collection 6.
Poly Flanger is currently available via the Minimal Audio website at an introductory price of $29, after which it will return to its standard retail price of $49. By bridging the gap between mathematical modulation and musical intuition, Minimal Audio provides a sophisticated solution for producers seeking to elevate their sound design with precision and character.
